This Story

Today is a gorgeous, priceless day in San Diego, and I feel good if a bit sleepy. So this will be just a short post. I do still have a few pre-op errands to run despite spending a king's ransom in pj's yesterday. Also, Des & Margaret are flying in today to help us get through this next step, for which we're so thankful.

For now I'll leave you with this piece I noticed today by one of my favorite artists, Rob Ryan.

Hi Jess,
you don't know me, and i'm so sad that we're 'meeting' under these circumstances. my name is brandi hyde (maiden name was wheeler); i was friends with your hubby in med school. you seem very smart and cool and perfect for mark; you seem happy together and i'm glad for you.
i hate that the first thing i knew about you is your cancer. i hate that i knew that before i knew you're a locavore, grow orchids, and embroider christmas stockings. i will try to reorder those events in my mind.
i wish you all the luck in the world. you will be in my prayers, especially monday.

Mark and Jess,

I just wanted to let you know that you are in my prayers and we are hoping for a best possibile outcome with surgery tomorrow. You may not be aware that my mother had breast cancer and has now been cancer free for more than a decade living a completely normal life. I pray that you will have a similar result.

Lots of love,

Dion (and Jaci and Joey as well)
